EVENT UPDATE: FUCHS AUSTRALIAN NATIONALS, SYDNEY DRAGWAY

The Fuchs Australian Nationals, in which Stuart Bishop and his Diamond Doorslammer were competing this weekend, has been cancelled today due to wet weather.

The final run of qualifying for Top Doorslammer was set to be run this morning, with the Elimination runs to be completed later today.

The Top Doorslammer field were only able to complete one of the two final qualifying sessions scheduled for Saturday evening before the racing was adjourned after the schedule ran behind and an incident in another bracket meant organisers were faced with a long clean-up time before racing could resume.

Bishop was due to appear in the fourth and final qualifier for Top Doorslammer this morning ahead of the Elimination rounds later today, however heavy rain greeted the racers and Event staff in Sydney and the Event was been cancelled.

Up until that point, Bishop's best run of the weekend was set in the first qualifier held on Friday night, with the CEO of Wallace Bishop Jewellers putting his Diamond Doorslammer down the quarter mile in 6.538 seconds at 229.55 miles per hour (367.28kmh).

The Stuart Bishop Racing team's next appearance is scheduled for November 14 and 15 at Kwinana Raceway, Perth, for the 2008 Goldenstate Titles.
